Orchardleigh Golf Club held their traditional drive-in on Saturday 26th January, to officially welcome the three new captains to their posts, Gary Jefferies as Club Captain, Jim Worsley the Seniors Captain and Marie Cusworth as Lady Captain.
The club reports, “An impressive 24 teams of 4 took part in the 9 hole Texas Scramble which commenced at 9.30am on a shotgun start. After the golf there was lunch in the clubhouse followed by the prize giving. The three captains then went out to the first tee for the drive-in. The prizes for placing their marker stick closest to each of the drives was won by Liz South (ladies), Liam Litterick (men) and Pete Dicken (seniors).
“Prizes for the Texas Scramble were given on both the front and back nine. The front nine winners were Malcolm Dawkins, Robert Miller, Noel McRoberts and Patrick Cusworth and runners-up were the Captains’ team Marie Cusworth, Gary Jefferies, Simon Barnes and Jim Worsley. The winners of the back nine were Tom Walton, Joe Hearn, Mark Adams and Liam Litterick and runners-up Chris Roach, Owen Roach, Dan Duncan and Carl Incledon. There was a separate prize for the best score from the ladies’ teams and this was won by Anne Regler, Mel Sutherland, Marion Underhill and Christina Francis.”
