DRUM It Up are offering two weekly daytime drumming sessions in Frome, one for adults only and a brand new one for children, following popular demand.
Drum It Up have been running an adult-only drumming and percussion session each Thursday at 1.30pm–3pm. They say, “We are now happy to announce a new children’s session on Thursdays from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, for all children over 5 years of age.
“We will play rhythm games, run a drum circle, learn simple rhythms and also make up our own, and end with a song or interactive story. Children will try out different drums and percussion in a group, which will involve developing team work, listening skills, and will be a lot of fun.
“During the adults-only session, you will learn some African poly rhythms (two different rhythms that link together) and djembe technique, so you feel confident around a drum. We will create an ‘in the moment sound scape’ using drum circle methods and a bit of ‘jamming or play what you feel’ with percussion and other instruments.
“All abilities are catered for and it is fully inclusive for experienced drummers, beginners and everyone in-between. Drumming is a great way to bring people together through the connection and energy that creating rhythm in a group brings. Drumming has health benefits too and can strengthen neuro-transmitters in your brain, has a relaxing effect on your body and can boost your immune system.
“Both sessions will be led by Tanya Sherriff, an experienced and engaging facilitator, with a wealth of experience of running groups and working within education and the creative arts. We have a huge range of different drums and percussion of all shapes and sizes! No experience needed.”
The cost of the adult class is per half a term which consist of 6 weeks from 9th November to 14th December and is £42 (£7 per session) Thursdays 1.30 – 3pm.
