A new co-facilitator has joined Frome Birth Talk to help run its free monthly Baby Loss Support Group.
Mel Dalton will co-facilitate the group with counsellor Melina Robinson. Mel is a trained art psychotherapist and co-founder of the Frome Grief Network, which brings together local people and organisations that work with grief and loss. She will now be working with Melina, who for the past 18 months has held a safe, compassionate space for people who have experienced the loss of a baby at any stage.
Mel said, “I’m delighted to be working alongside Melina to facilitate this very special group and to be able to now offer art therapy as an additional option for people attending. This opportunity is very important to me, both on a personal and professional level. With Baby Loss Awareness Week just around the corner, it’s also a good moment to highlight that local support is available. Please don’t be afraid to reach out to Frome Birth Talk, who are here to help you navigate this difficult time.”
The group meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 7pm to 9pm at The Good Heart Cafe on Palmer Street. It is open to anyone affected by baby loss, whether recently or many years ago and is one of the only in-person support groups in the area. Frome Birth Talk also offers free and low-cost counselling for anyone who has had or lost a baby within the last two years.
Baby Loss Awareness Week runs from 9th to 15th of October and is an opportunity to give anyone touched by pregnancy and baby loss a safe and supportive space to share their experiences and feel that they are not alone.
There are ways for both individuals and businesses to get involved, with more info available at https://babyloss-awareness.org/
