Frome FM, based at the Town Hall on Christchurch Street, has two studios for local people to share their information, concerns and ideas with the diverse communities in Frome.
In these studios the volunteer staff also run courses for people to learn how to make radio programmes – and then put them on the air.
Another six residents of the Frome FM transmission area have just completed their radio production training at the station. Amongst the new shows that have been promised from this new talent are two comedy shows – Happy Hour – a comedy interview programme with happy life stories from Frome residents and happy music; Dessert Island Discs – where a local comedienne and scriptwriter interviews ‘celebrities’ and discovers their life stories and what puddings they like.
Frome FM’s members generated 1500 hours of new programming last year; many of the shows are produced monthly by the public and there are also a number of weekly shows.
If you have an idea for a weekly or monthly show or would like to train to become a member of Frome FM’s programme team – or want to volunteer to help others make programmes at the station, contact Rupert Kirkham by emailing studio@frome.fm or visiting the website contact page http://frome.fm/contact-us.
