THE Women’s World Day of Prayer has been rescheduled for Friday 6th April at Wesley Methodist Church from 2.30pm.
The original date, planned for the beginning of March, was cancelled due to the snow. One of the organisers, Jean Fraser, said, “The service, titled ‘All God’s creation is very good’, was held throughout the world in places less challenged or more used to snow than we are!
“However, because it is such a lovely service from the country of Suriname in South America and the collection taken at the service is for worldwide charities, we have decided to ‘do it anyway.’
“Other towns and villages are also doing the same. It is an opportunity for people from the churches and the community to take part and worship together while helping others throughout the world. It is in the Easter holidays, but children are very welcome and resources suitable for them are available.
“Whilst acknowledging the difficulties women face throughout the world, next year the word ‘women’ will not be in the title – it will be the ‘World Day of Prayer’. Gentlemen have always been very welcome and they will be this time. There will be refreshments and a cake stall. Do come and join us.”
