THE new year began for Active and In Touch with a newly appointed director of services, Lisa Cooke.
Volunteer at Active and In Touch Patricia Baker said, “Born in Bath, Lisa’s early life revolved around Saltford. She moved to Winsley and then on to Frome, where she has been resident for 22 years. Her three children were born either in Bath or more locally.
“Lisa’s background is in property, her interest beginning when she worked as a Saturday girl in an estate agents. This company bought greener lettings which Lisa subsequently took over and re-branded. This business was originally located at the business park, and built up a reputation, keeping going, including throughout the difficulties brought about by Covid-19 and lockdown.
“When Steve Bane fabrics shop was up for sale, it provided the ideal opportunity for a central location and so Lisa bought the premises in 2021. She had renovations carried out and created Harlows of Frome, which successfully manages a large number of rental properties in the Frome area.
“Lisa’s association with Active and In Touch began prior to her becoming director of service, however, as she wished to support isolated and lonely people in Frome and the surrounding villages during lockdown. So she became a volunteer for the charity which also gave her an insight into both its core principles and organisation.
“Thus, when following the resignation of Dougie Brown, Lisa saw the advert for a new director, she was very keen to become involved in continuing to move the charity forward. To the role she brings great passion, drive and new ideas based on her understanding of the local area which will continue to ensure Active and In Touch remains at the very heart of Frome.”
Lisa said, “I’m delighted to be leading this wonderful charity at such an exciting time. We have many interesting ideas and opportunities for further development which I look forward to sharing with the community in the near future.
