FROME Drama Club (FDC) has a new director and rehearsals will soon start for their production of A Bunch of Amateurs by Ian Hislop.
FDC says, “The Frome Times article, which was run in May, that sought new directors for the Frome Drama Club’s 2023/24 season has worked and the programme is well underway and features someone who has never directed for FDC before.
“Richard Wright moved to Westbury in August last year. He had directed many productions in Wells and Weston Super Mare before and applied to FDC as a result of the article. He was interviewed by the productions committee and was given the job of directing their spring play.”
Richard added, “If it hadn’t been for the article in the Frome Times, I would probably have not contacted FDC about directing because I tended to think that amdram theatre groups are often a little cliquey. Not so in Frome. I think it’s brilliant that they are so open to new people, and would encourage anyone thinking of getting involved to be confident that they would be welcomed by FDC.”
Richard will soon start rehearsing A Bunch of Amateurs by Ian Hislop (of Not The 9 O’clock News fame) and Nick Newman (Spitting Image). Auditions are in late November.
