From Tuesday 3rd January the town’s local 30 bus service is to stop by the entrance to the Health Park at Rodden Road.
The service runs every thirty minutes and includes stops at Keyford, The Mount, Locks Hill and the Market Place. The extended service is operated by Frome Minibuses.
Andrew Young, managing director at the company, is extremely pleased to have the opportunity to be able to provide a service that meets public demand.
“As a local company based here in Frome we listen carefully to what is happening in the community and to what our customers tell us,” says Andrew. “Access to and availability of public transport is essential to both the town’s Community Hospital and Health Centre. We are therefore delighted to now be able to provide a direct bus link connecting the Mount, Locks Hill and the town’s Health Park.”
The senior partner at the Frome Medical Practice is Dr Helen Kingston. “Since before we even opened our doors at the new Health Centre, we have always championed public transport and have fought hard to both win and retain bus services stopping at or near the town’s health facilities,” says Dr Kingston. “I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank not only Andrew Young and his colleagues at Frome Minibuses, but also Frome Town Council for their constant support and encouragement of local public transport.
“Especially at a time when there are constant threats to bus services, it is great to see the determination of so many ensure that a local service is now actually able to extend its route. Now that the extended bus route is available from the beginning of January, I would urge as many people as possible to use this excellent new service.’
