Black Swan Arts has some fresh faces in its artisan studios, which offer visitors the opportunity to watch crafts people at work and buy from them directly.
Lila Streether’s love of flowers and the Mendip Hills countryside around her home is illustrated in her botanical paintings on show in Studio 1. She is drawn to unusual and wild plants which she represents in watercolour and acrylic.
Linda Sandeman and Yasemin Sweet are two jewellers who have teamed up to show their work in Studio 2. Linda creates distinctive contemporary pieces using large stones set within geometric metalwork designs.
Yasemin’s intricate filigree designs, featuring fine silver wire work, draw inspiration from geometrical shapes, natural patterns and traditional Turkish jewellery.
Frome-based sculptor Alexander Langford will be producing his sculptures and demonstrating his techniques in Studio 3. His bas reliefs depict life, death, love, drama and dreams in the form of people, animals, angels and skeletons.
