A new food bank drop-off point is now open at a Frome-based care home in preparation of this year’s harvest time.
Residents and team members at Care UK’s Rossetti House, on Welshmill Lane, are encouraging the local community to donate their extra, unused, or unwanted non-perishable food items to Frome’s new food bank drop-off point, located in the care home’s reception.
Each year, harvest time celebrates the time when crops are gathered from fields, and people reflect on and show gratitude for the food that they have. It dates back to a time when people relied on local crops for food, and farmers would give thanks for a good harvest.
The food bank drop-off point, which will see donations made to Fair Frome, will be available at Rossetti House until Thursday 10th October, with the drop-off point located in the home’s reception. The home also hosted a harvest festival service for residents and the community on 3rd October.
General manager at Rossetti House, Phil Vale, said, “At Rossetti House, we are always looking for ways to give back and support our community and local charities, which is why we’re delighted to be partnering with Fair Frome and launching our first-ever food bank drop-off point.
“In these challenging times, we know many people may be struggling, and with Christmas fast approaching, it’s more important than ever to support food banks, which provide a vital lifeline for many members of our local community.
“We’d encourage those who have unwanted or unused items to come and visit Rossetti House and support us in helping those in need.”
