Frome Town FC revealed the new name of their stadium – The Robins’ Nest – at their family open day, held on Saturday 29th August, which attracted over 150 people to the event.
The stadium name was chosen by youth player Gabe Walsh, who had won the opportunity to name the stadium following the club’s Crowdfunder campaign. Gabe and his brother Torin were delighted to watch the club’s reveal video with their father online during the lockdown.
Their father said, “We found out via social media from being tagged in, so we sat the boys down to show the video and their names coming up! They were very excited and very nervous at taking on the responsibility of naming their local team’s ground.”
After keeping their name of the ground secret for nearly two months, the name of ‘The Robins’ Nest’ was revealed to everyone to a huge round of applause. Comments from the crowd were very positive due to the name having a historic significance – it was the original name of the clubhouse before the previous renovations.
