A recent report published by We Hear You this month shows that its pilot online counselling service, funded by Awards for All, has been a huge success.
The service has so far delivered over 150 sessions, supporting 15 individuals. Online counselling has helped the charity improve accessibility for clients with a range of different needs as well as being able to offer increased flexibility.
The improvements seen in those that use the service have been very favourable, with the average improvement rating of 62%. Evaluation forms returned have also shown very high satisfaction rates from clients.
Melissa Hillier, Director commented, “We wanted to try using online technology to reach those that may otherwise be unable to access our support. Online counselling can be extremely useful for those unable to travel – due to health, costs or distance and clients also told us that they liked being in the comfort of their own home.
“Another benefit is that those who have caring responsibilities or are currently in treatment are also able to fit sessions around their other commitments.”
We Hear You has been so pleased with the outcomes of this pilot that it will now be offering online counselling as part of its on-going service. Working across a rural setting and knowing the needs of those affected by cancer and life threatening conditions the charity wants to make sure it is reaching out and offering a variety of options to help fit the service around peoples’ lives.
