A NEW social network for over 50s in and around Frome was launched this month.
Our Time Now is a website dedicated to providing a range of interesting and enjoyable social activities that bring people over 50 together.
The website was founded by Ben Le Roith, who was inspired by the experience of friends and family members looking to broaden their social networks, after having relocated or retired.
His idea was to set up a forum where over 50s could meet up and make friends both online and offline. The website is explicitly not a dating service and is open to both couples and single people.
Ben said, “Research by AgeUK suggests that over 40% of people over 50 would like to expand their social networks.
“Our Time Now aims to make this easy by providing a range of fun, interesting and entertaining events which bring people together in a safe, relaxed environment.”
Membership is currently free and activities range in price from £5 to £30.
Our Time Now’s inaugural event, the launch dinner, was held at The Settle in Frome last month.
Ben said, “I’ve been delighted by the support received from Frome residents and local businesses, and the feedback from our dinner was very positive.
“It’s early days, but I hope that Our Time Now will go a long way in helping our members enjoy everything that Frome has to offer.”
Our Time Now has planned a trip to Iford Manor Gardens on Friday 12th September, and a dinner at the Castello Italian restaurant on Palmer Street, on Thursday 25th September. There are also scheduled visits to Longleat, Stourhead and a variety of local restaurants and cafes.
