Members of a monthly writing group wrote so much whenever they met, that they decided to rent a studio where writers could work together, six days a week.
Every month, TheWriteDay writing retreat draws writers to Frome to write for a day in an atmosphere of companionable creativity. Now, in addition to the monthly gathering, up to ten wordsmiths can write free from distraction for as long as they like Monday to Saturday at The Write Place, a peaceful studio under the eaves of Black Swan Arts.
Kate McEwan has facilitated TheWriteDay for the last five years and is thrilled with this new development saying, “Writing talent aside, what most writers excel at is the art of procrastination. In a room on our own, we are more likely to clean it or rearrange the furniture than write.
“But Black Swan Arts is such an inspiring space to work and at The Write Place there’s someone to write with every day, so you can’t procrastinate. Instead, everyone focuses on getting those words written.
“Fees are low because The Write Place is a not-for-profit enterprise and we want local writers to be able to afford to make time for their writing between family and work commitments.”
The cost of renting a desk at The Write Place ranges from £5 for up to four hours, to £20 a month for access six days a week. For more information email Kate at TheChiefProcrastinator@gmail.com or go to www.writeday.co.uk and click on ‘The Write Place’ tab.
