A NEW radio show will launch on Frome FM on Monday 6th February at 8pm to 9pm, called Elmer’s Rarebits.
Frome FM’s Patrick Abrahams said, “Why Rarebits? because it will be from some rare CDs, often with rare extra tracks, and music rarely heard on radio. On the show will be punk, ska, dub and industrial music, from bands such as Killing Joke, Test Department, RDF, Conflict and Crass. The show can be heard on Frome FM (96.6fm) every other Monday from 8pm from 6th February.
“Music brought Elmer to Frome many years ago. He was a drummer in a band called Loop Guru. Elmer fondly remembers playing at the Cheese and Grain on the 12th December 1998. His musical journey to Frome started with a drumkit when he was 14, in a band called Siberia at aged 15, and progressing via Southend and London with bands such as Head Butt, Sonic Violence to Loop Guru.
“After a spell road protesting on the A30 and the Newbury bypass sites, Elmer found himself living in Witham Friary, then later in Catherine Hill.”
Speaking about meeting Elmer in his shop, Frome Wholefoods, Patrick said, “We spoke to him about his new show in Frome Wholefoods; that he owns with his partner Lucia. Frome Wholefoods have been supplying the people of Frome with healthy, ethically sourced food for 30 years. We also dropped by Raves from the Grave, where Jim, who works in the shop, explained they have CDs and vinyls that Elmer will be playing in his show.”
Elmer said “It’s great that I can share on the show music that has given me so much.”
One of the volunteers from Frome FM said, “It’s great that Frome FM, working with residents and local businesses, can broadcast music of all kind of genres.”
Listen to Elmer’s Rarebits show on 96.6 FM and online at http://frome.fm from Monday 6th February from 8pm.
