LOCAL radio station Frome FM is looking forward to starting two new shows in the coming week with host Dave Watkins.
As an extension to the station’s popular weekend Breakfast Show, there will now be a mid-morning show on Fridays called ‘The Big Brew’, running from 9.30am -12pm.
A fortnightly rock and prog music show, The Big House, will also be beginning on Thursday 30th April.
Dave Watkins said, “The format of The Big Brew will be broadly the same as the weekend Breakfast Show, where we will be giving out news and events from around the area, as well as looking at worldwide news, with occasional studio guests along the way too.
“The aim is to also play as much classic music as we possibly can – if you enjoy the style of the playlists on Radio 2 and The Breeze, that is the kind of thing you will hear on The Big Brew too. So Frome FM will be the only truly local station where you can hear all of the music you love, alongside local news and information and all broadcast from the Old Fire Station right here in Frome! So settle down with a nice cuppa and enjoy the show.”
The Big Brew show welcomes input from the listeners too, and people can get in touch with song requests and details on upcoming events by emailing – studio@fromefm.co.uk , with ‘The Big Brew’ in the subject header.
Businesses interested in becoming the show sponsor and having a jingle played out during each edition, are also encourage to get in touch.
Dave’s rock and prog show The Big House will run fortnightly on a Thursday, starting on Thursday 30th April from 7-8pm.
Dave continued, “I have hosted the Blues & Roots show on a Wednesday night which has proved to be hugely successful and has listeners around the world, but I have always loved rock music and have been wanting to put this new show together for a while now.
“I am known for interesting and varied playlists and plan to do the same for The Big House, it won’t just get thrown together!
“The show name came about as a way of describing how the listener can come and visit the house and explore the many different rooms within!”
Frome FM can be listened to on 96.6FM in the local area, and is a volunteer station run by Frome Community Productions CIC, based in the Old Fire Station.
The station is always looking for more voluntary members to help run the station, both behind the scenes technical help and hosting shows, find out more at www.frome.fm.
