A new darts academy for young players has recently launched in Frome, offering boys and girls aged 7 to 17 the chance to develop their skills, socialise and even compete for world-class prizes.
The Frome Junior Darts Academy runs every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7.15pm at Badger’s Hill, Frome Town Football Club, and is affiliated with the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC), opening up opportunities for participants to compete in prestigious tournaments, including a world championship with a prize fund of £10,000.
“Two years ago, the renowned darts player Luke Littler was part of the JDC and has now gone on to win major competitions around the world,” said one of the organisers, Simon Baldwin. “Darts is an amazing way for kids to socialise whilst playing a game that is growing massively around the world. It is a great way to improve their maths skills but the academy also provides a Scolia system dartboard, which handles the maths for younger or less confident children, ensuring no one feels left behind.”
“We just want kids coming in, winning medals and prizes, but most of all having fun and enjoying the game.”
