SADLY, Frome’s annual Valentine Gas Lamp Lighting Ceremony, which is normally held on 14th February, will not be going ahead this year.
Sue Bloom from Friends of the Valentine Gas Lamp said, “Coronavirus has had an impact both physically and emotionally on all of us, but one thing that cannot change is the very reason for the Valentine Gas Lamp’s renovation and existence – the presence of love.
“We have witnessed and experienced this phenomenon throughout the pandemic. It is something that stays strong in the toughest of times and brings light to our lives when we are in darkness. No power or order can prevent love.
“In this vein, the following wish is offered to you all from the lamplighter, Reg Ling, “May you have a full and fair measure of love in your life and a long and happy one.”
