Principal of Frome Community College, Emma Reynolds, held a cheque presentation on Tuesday 19th December and congratulated the students who helped raise over £1,000 for Children in Need.
Dr Smith, head of Newton House said, “This was a charity event organised by the students themselves, and shows the drive and community spirit we have amongst the students at Frome College.
“Students from all the year groups and houses contributed to raising a fantastic amount of money for Children in Need by their non-uniform donations and cake sales in Newton House. A big thank you to all the cake bakers, but a special mention to Grace, Amy and Stephanie for leading the event.”
The student team, Grace Lindley and Amy Cotterell in Year 11 and Stephanie Verwey in Year 10 said, “We are very pleased to have raised over £1,000 for BBC Children In Need. On Friday 17th November lots of staff and students supported the cause by wearing their own clothes to school and donating £1 each. We’d like to thank everybody who took part. Another thank you to all the Newton students who supported our cake sale by baking cakes, and also to everyone who bought cakes. We were able to raise a further £70.”
