The entire staff and pupils from Oakfield Academy met on the school yard at 11am on Friday 9th November to listen to student Edith Baker and head of English, Liz Hall, read World War I literature, which was followed by music teacher, David Hynds, playing a beautiful rendition of The Last Post.
Two minutes’ silence was led by headteacher, Emma Wilkes, to remember all those who have died fighting for their country.
The academy said, “The pupils demonstrated strong respect for the whole event, it was very moving to listen to the rain fall during the silence.”
