OAKFIELD Choir will be putting on its Christmas concert at a church in Frome next month.
The choir’s annual December concert will see them perform Joseph Haydn’s great choral masterpiece ‘The Creation’ at the recently renovated Holy Trinity Church on Trinity Street.
The choir, now numbering over fifty singers, will be accompanied by an orchestra of some thirty musicians, and will be joined by soloists Alicia Little (soprano), Christopher Pelmore (tenor), and Niall Hoskin (bass-baritone) who sang the Brahms Requiem with the choir in May, all under the baton of the choir’s musical director, Neil Moore.
The choir’s Chris Ellis says, “We are thrilled to include in this concert the carol ‘Comes the Light’ which was composed by the choir’s rehearsal accompanist Ann Burgess. Ann’s carol was winning entry in the BBC Radio 3 Carol Competition 2015, and Ann will be playing the harpsichord in the concert.”
The concert is on Saturday 3rd December at 7.30pm. Booking is recommended – tickets are available from choir members, Hunting Raven Books or by phoning 01373 464839.
