ONLY a few weeks ago, the Oakfield Choir were performing a very successful concert as part of the Frome Festival. The choir now anticipate the start of rehearsals for their December concert, which will feature music from the 19th and 21st centuries in the form of Dvořák’s Mass in D and Lux Aeterna by the modern American composer, Morten Lauridsen.
Membership of the choir currently hovers at around 45 singers who have established a reputation for high class performances, generally accompanied by professional soloists and instrumentalists, all under the baton of musical director, Neil Moore. The choir is fortunate in being able to perform its concerts in the excellent surroundings of Holy Trinity Church in Frome.
The choir says, “It is always the aim of the choir to add to its ranks, and we would welcome new members in all voice sections (but sopranos in particular) to join us. Rehearsals, which take place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, will begin on Wednesday 7th September at Oakfield Academy starting at 7.30pm, with scores provided. If you feel that you would like to join in, then please come along, there are no auditions or tests other than the assumed ability to read music at choral standard.”
