DESPITE only playing one match this year, Oakfield Academy’s hockey team took part in the Mendip Tournament.
The academy reports, “They went into the Mendip Tournament showing how much they have progressed from last year. In last year’s tournament they lost against strong schools, with scores like 8-0 (The Blue School) and 5-0 (Hugh Sexeys).
“This year, Oakfield’s year 8 team kept The Blue School and Fairlands to a 0-0 draw, lost by 1 goal to Hugh Sexeys but won 1-0 against Selwood.
“It’s a shame the girls are leaving Oakfield before the next hockey season, as they are making great strides”.
