‘The Zone’ officially opened its doors last month with a launch event hosted by the Young Carers who benefit from the project.
The Young Carers hosted their party with homemade punch and decorated biscuits.
A Young Carer member, May, gave a moving and powerful introduction on how the group will help her by providing a space where she can share her experiences with other young people that understand.
The group has been set up to support young people aged between 10 and 18 years old who have a family member with a disability or ill health, many of the members have siblings with additional needs. The Zone is providing them with an opportunity to get together and have fun and receive support from one another.
Meeting every other week at the Park Road Support Centre, the group led by an experienced Youth Work Team have planned a series of exciting trips and activities. The project is part funded by Children in Need along with its sister project the Pod Youth Club.
The Pod is delighted to have received a grant from Frome Town Council this year which has enabled them to expand the provision and open this new group.
