THE Lady Captain of Orchardleigh Golf Club, Sonia Probert, has organised the last competition of her year as captain.
The ladies’ club reports, “The 4BBB competition took place on Tuesday 19th October and just over 30 ladies took part. The conditions were not great as although the rain held off, it was a very blustery day. It was an extremely enjoyable event and Sonia was very pleased that the day had raised £160 for the Air Ambulance, which is her captain’s charity for this year.
“The prize winners of the 4BBB were: 1st – Pat Pitt & Marie Cusworth; 2nd– Loes de Kleuver & Sue Chalker; 3rd – Christina Francis & Christine Arnold; 4th – Carol Weightman & Rebecca Richards. There was also a 2-spot competition which produced three winners – Anne Regler, Loes de Kleuver and Diana Bullock. They each received a prize of a sleeve of balls and a birdie hat ball marker.
“At the end of September, the Ladies took on the Seniors in their annual event when the two sections thrash it out on the course. The Seniors beat the Ladies in the individual stableford scoring, which is the usual outcome, but at the same time, there was a 4BBB competition with a lady and a senior teamed together which keeps the event on a very friendly basis.
“The winners of the 4BBB were Anne Regler and Pete Maunder with 43 points. The Ladies’ Summer Knockout competitions have been ongoing throughout the season, but recently two of the finals were played. The Committee Cup, which is a singles knockout, was won by Ann James who beat Sue Sweet. The Pitt Rosebowl, which is a 4BBB competition, was won by Loes de Kleuver and Carol Weightman, who beat Sonia Probert and Mary Ford on the 15th hole.
