SOME of the Orchardleigh Golf Club members recently competed in the Jefferies Trophy an annual mixed pairs 4BBB competition, played on the Sunday 13th August.
The winning pair were Mike Norris and Sue Marshall who brought in a score of 39 points and close behind were Dave and Sue Chalker with 38 points.
The ladies’ section played The Sally Lock Trophy which is a two round stableford competition and took place on Thursday 10th August and Thursday 17th August.
Both days were fine and sunny but the course is still playing short due to all the recent rain. Perhaps this is reflected in the scoring.
On completion of the first round, Sue Marshall was leading the field with 36 points, four ahead of Diana Bullock on 32. The second-round winner was Lorraine Collings with 34 points followed by Diana Bullock, Sue Chalker, Jan Light and Pat Pitt all with 32 but Sue Marshall who also brought in 32 points on the second round, added to her excellent first round score made her the clear winner with a 68 total. This was closely followed by Diana Bullock who was runner up with a two-round total of 64.
The Orchardleigh Ladies have played a couple of home matches in the Bristol and District Alliance League winning 9/5 to Clevedon B and a stunning win against Bath B 13/1.
