THE Seniors at Orchardleigh Golf Club held their annual presentation on Monday 23rd November.
Major Champions were Jonathon Reeve (Seniors’ Champion), Mike Hillier (Senior Captain’s Cup), Malcolm Lloyd (Drums Hill Masters) and Mike Norris (Vets’ Vase). Mike also won the season long Order of Merit.
Competing with Mike for star of the season was Andrew Stone (a young senior) who won the Singles Knock Out Trophy (The Forth Shield) and no fewer than four of the monthly medals in Division One. The Pairs Knock Out was won by Malcolm Lloyd and Mike Passingham, while Mike also won the Autumn Pairs, this time with partner Dave Edwards.
The Pairs Better Ball Cup was won by David Chalker and Brian Francis, while Andy Legg won both the Mike Small Cup (best nett during Seniors’ Champions) and The Phil Jefferies Cup (best nett on day one) which was presented by Phil’s brother, Pete Jefferies. John Scott presented his cup to Phil Brocks (best nett day two).
Multiple winners in Division One Stablefords included Malcolm Lloyd (three wins), Ken White (two wins), and Steve Lawrence (two wins). In Division Two, Richard Fry picked up three wins while Peter Folland and Craig Bowden had two wins each. There were, however, 11 different winners in the Monthly medals (Andrew Stone being the only player to win more than one!) and the Stableford Competitions saw ten different winners in Division One and the same number, ten, in Division Two.
Thanking all the members for their participation during the season, competitions secretary, Mike Passingham, announced an exciting programme for the winter and reminded everyone that the AGM is to be held on the 13th November.
