The Ladies section of Orchardleigh Golf Club held their AGM on Tuesday 12th November at the clubhouse.
Marie Cusworth reported on her successful and enjoyable year as captain and thanked everyone who had helped during her year in office and with raising money for her chosen charity, the British Heart Foundation. So far, £1102.15 has been raised and it is hoped there will be a little more to be added to this figure. This was followed by reports from the other committee members and the various team captains.
Marie then introduced Sonia Probert as the new Lady Captain, presenting her with the club jersey. Sonia said she was looking forward to her new post and is planning to have the air ambulance as her club charity for 2020. Other new officers elected onto the committee were Jackie Pudney as Handicap Secretary and Sue Chalker as Secretary. Audrey Holland remains as Competition Secretary and Liz Attenborough as Treasurer. Ann James, Vron Jefferies and Carol Jenkins were elected onto the committee.
After the meeting was closed the winners of the monthly Medal and Stableford competitions for 2019 were presented with their prizes. They are as follows:
Medal winners: Silver – Christina Francis (3), Anne Regler (2), Loes de Kleuver (4) Bronze – Marion Underhill, Ann James (2), Michele Fairweather, Di Norris.
Stableford winners: Silver – Loes de Kleuver (2), Liz South (3), Pat Pitt, Sarah Doble, Rachel Priddle, Diana Bullock. Bronze – Veronica Cherry, Anne Carpenter, Sue Dicken, Jackie Pudney, Ann James (3), Nadine Stock (2).
Lizzy Bryant age 16 and Phoebe Stock age 14 were congratulated on being chosen for the Somerset Girls Performance Squad. They go for monthly training at Burnham & Berrow and will play in some friendly matches during the winter months, in preparation for being part of the Somerset team in the 2020 season.
