THE Ladies’ section at Orchardleigh Golf Club held their annual Christmas lunch and prize giving on Tuesday 14th December at the clubhouse. Nobody opted to play golf before the lunch but instead Lin Handley organised a quiz as the pre-lunch entertainment.
Around 30 ladies attended and as usual there was a very jovial atmosphere. The incoming lady captain, Anne Carpenter, announced ‘Sightsavers’ as her chosen charity for the coming year and gave a passionate talk about its work.
This charity mainly works in Africa and Pakistan treating children with Trachoma, a bacterial infection which can cause blindness. Anne has supported this charity for 20 years. After the three-course meal had been consumed and enjoyed, the outgoing lady captain, Sonia Probert, gave out the trophies to the 2021 prize winners.
