The Ladies section of Orchardleigh Golf Club recently held their AGM at the clubhouse.
Lorraine Collings reported on her successful and enjoyable year as captain and thanked everyone who had helped in raising money for this year’s charities. A total of £2,161.45 will be shared in a 75/25% split between Dorothy House and Fair Frome.
She then introduced Marie Cusworth as the new Lady Captain presenting her with the club jersey. Marie said she was very much looking forward to her new post and is planning to have the British Heart Foundation as her club charity for 2019.
Other new officers elected onto the committee were Sonia Probert as Lady Vice-Captain, Audrey Holland as Competition secretary and Liz Attenborough as Treasurer. Carol Marquiss remains as secretary and Anne Regler as Handicap secretary. Sheila Goodbody will be joining the committee in place of Michele Fairweather.
Anne Regler gave a brief introduction to some of the new R&A rules that come into force in January 2019, and explained a little about the new World Handicap System which begins in 2020.
After the meeting was closed, the winners of the monthly Medal and Stableford competitions for 2018 were presented with their prizes. They are as follows:
Medal winners: Christina Francis, Gail Painter, Anne Regler, Kate Chadwick, Loes de Kleuver, Anne Carpenter, Mary Lock, Lizzie Bryant, Sonia Probert (2), Liz South (2), Carol Weightman.
Stableford winners: Kate Chadwick (3), Veronica Cherry (2), Sarah Hynds, Christina Francis, Liz South, Gail Painter (2), Lorraine Collings.
