Orchardleigh Golf Club’s Ladies’ Section held their own version of the Solheim Cup on Tuesday 5th May, with Europe taking on the Rest of the World in a closely contested competition.
The format saw nine holes of fourball better ball followed by nine holes of match play. The result was finely balanced, with Europe securing victory by 6½ points to 5½ after edging the match play.
Sue Sweet, captain of the Europe team, was presented with the trophy by Lady Captain Jan Light.
Players enjoyed sunny conditions and the event was well received by all who took part.
In league action, the Orchardleigh Ladies have made a strong start in the Bristol & District Alliance, recording a 10–4 home win against Saltford B and an 8–6 away victory at Weston-super-Mare B.
Results in the Somerset Interclub league have been more challenging, with Orchardleigh losing 5.5–1.5 at home to Enmore and 6.5–0.5 away to Isle of Wedmore.
