THERE were a few multiple winners at the Orchardleigh Seniors end of season presentation.
This year’s Seniors Champion, Malcolm Lloyd, also won two of the Division One monthly medals and partnered Maurice Hurst to win the Pairs Knock Out. Malcolm secured the individual title after a four hole play-off against Colin Cook. Equally impressive this year was Peter Folland who won two Division Two monthly medals, the Phil Jefferies Cup for best nett at Seniors Championship on day one, and the Jim Worsley Trophy for the Order of Merit – awarded to the most successful player across the season in the weekly competitions.
Bill Savage had a wonderful season winning the John Scott Trophy for best nett on Day Two of the Senior Championships and the Mike Small Cup for best nett overall. Bill also won the Autumn Pairs with partner Richard Fry. Not far behind was Ray Clarke who won the Singles Knock Out (beating John Cocks in the final for the second year running) and The Drums Hill Masters, while Brian Francis also picked up two awards for Division Two medals, as did Jonathon Reeve in Division One. Other Medal winners were Jim Worsley, Phil Brocks and Brian Brookes in Division One and Craig Bowden, Keith Beal and Andy Legg in Division Two.
The ever-young Mike Norris captured The Vets Vase while Mike Passingham impressed in winning The Seniors Captains Cup. Completing the roll of honour were Keith Broughton and Keith Beal who won the Pairs Better Ball Trophy, beating last year’s winners, Colin Cook and Adrian Malling on countback.
Senior captain, Craig Bowden, congratulated all the winners and will conduct his last meeting as captain when the Seniors hold their AGM on 21st November.
