Owner of The Old Bath Arms, Richard Findlay, has ditched pulling pints for one night only, putting on his boxing gloves instead to raise money for children’s charities.
In 2017, Richard accepted the opportunity to jump in the ring to take part in his first ever boxing match after being trained by professional boxer, Ryan Wheeler.
On his gofundme page, Richard said, “I am in training and very excited about getting fitter and ready for the fight night. I do not know who my opponent is yet, but he will be selected on the same weight and experience.
“I am a firm believer that children, in today’s challenging times, need every bit of push in life to get ahead, so the thought of getting punched about a boxing ring is pacified by the fact that through my fight I want to raise money for children.
“50% of my funds raised will go to Children with Cancer UK charity and the other 50% goes back into the Frome Boxing Academy juniors, to help incentivise new junior members to join and get fit.
“As a thank you, we also have two ringside table tickets to give away to one lucky donator who will be picked from the list of donations in the days leading up to the event!”
The event will take place on Friday 6th April from 6pm-11pm at The Cheese and Grain. To donate, please visit Richard’s gofundme page on: https://www.gofundme. com/richardfindlay.
