A VITAL children’s counselling service will be reinstated at Positive Action on Cancer thanks to a £27,356 grant from Children in Need.
The Frome-based charity has had to make cutbacks to their children and young people’s service in recent years with over 80% of services lost. Now, thanks to the Children in Need funding, those services can be reinstated and is secure for the whole of 2015. The services will benefit children and young people in the Frome area.
Hannah Culff from PAC said, “We are thrilled that we have received funding to reinstate our work with children and young people. It’s an area of work that is so important to us and it was a huge blow to us and the community when we had to make cut backs. We know from the feedback from schools and families that these sessions make an enormous difference to youngsters facing such a difficult time.”
PAC’s Frome office has a room kitted out with toys, paints and books that help younger children to express to a counsellor what they are feeling. Older children and young people can also come to see a counsellor in the office or – more usually – they can see a counsellor at their school between lessons.
PAC receives very little in guaranteed income and relies hugely on the support of the local community to continue its vital work. If you would like to help change that and to help make sure the future of its children and young people’s service is more secure, then please consider supporting PAC with a monthly donation by going to www.positiveactiononcancer.co.uk/donate.
