FROME’S PACE group recently visited Rich’s Cider Press Restaurant in Highbridge.
“The day was a roaring success,” says Carol Harper, leader of the Personal Achievement and Creative Experience (PACE) group.
“After coffees and teas on arrival, members with their carers and volunteers enjoyed a look round the on site museum. It’s compact but full of cider making memorabilia, with the star attraction being a bright red Massey Ferguson 35 Tractor.
“David Roy, our treasurer recalled that he had driven a tractor as a young boy living on a farm but that all tractors were grey in those days!.
“We visited the farm shop where some of us sampled the ciders and treated ourselves to the edible goodies, something as a memento, or a gift to take home.
“We all agreed the lunch was delicious; most of us chose the roast but there were other main dishes and amazing puddings too.
“After lunch we adjourned to the delightful outdoor area with lots of colourful plants, tables and seating with parasols which proved useful as there was a drop or two of rain but nothing could spoil our enjoyment.
“Then there was just time for a cuppa or a last look round the shop and it was time to board the coaches and head for home!”
