Parlinson UK’s Frome branch has issued an appeal for volunteers to help support the running of its monthly coffee mornings.
Volunteers support the café coordinator in the smooth running of the monthly coffee morning, helping to get the venue ready, meet and greet members and serve refreshments. These are flexible roles that make a big impact – volunteers ensure people with Parkinson’s locally can access activities that make a real difference to them.
The Frome Coffee morning takes place from 10am until 12pm on the second Friday of the month at Frome Town Hall, Christchurch Street West, BA11 1EB.
Claire Denby, local volunteer officer at Parkinson’s UK, said, “The coffee mornings provide a crucial support network for people in our community living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones. Our ability to provide this essential service hinges on the generosity and dedication of volunteers to help with the running of the coffee morning.
“If you have a few hours to spare each month, consider joining our incredible team to help change lives. Volunteering not only impacts those with Parkinson’s but also provides you with new experiences and the chance to meet new people.”
Around 153,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with Parkinson’s, including 6,588 people in Somerset.
Parkinson’s UK is the UK’s leading charity supporting those with the condition. Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s through pioneering research, information, support and campaigning.
