STAGECOACH performing arts Trowbridge and Frome have lots to celebrate after hearing the news of their world record success.
Last July, 170 students from Stagecoach Performing Arts Trowbridge and Frome took part in a Guinness World Record attempt. The record was to beat the largest simultaneous performance of one show.
Principal of Trowbridge and Frome, Freddie Underwood said, “On 1st July 2018, there were 120 performances of ‘Beauty and the Beast Jr’ all starting at exactly 6pm. This week on Monday 4th February, we found out we were successful, with 73 of those performances being accepted as valid and thus breaking the record.
“Our students rehearsed from April to July last year, creating a concert style performance where each one of our students participated in singing, dance and drama to tell the famous story of the classic Disney tale.
“Wearing their special Guinness World Record attempt t-shirts, the students received a standing ovation from the 500-strong audience, led by the deputy Mayor of Trowbridge and Wiltshire’s MP, at The Civic Centre in Trowbridge. This was our Stagecoach Frome students’ first ever performance as the school only opened that year in April.
“We feel incredibly proud of our achievement in being part of this Guinness World Record. At Stagecoach, we are passionate about providing our students with a high quality and varied performing arts education and building their confidence through unique performing opportunities. We feel this performance was incredibly unique and something our students can always treasure and remember.
“Last year was Stagecoach’s 30th anniversary and this wonderful event was part of our celebrations for this milestone. This year, 2019, is Stagecoach Trowbridge’s 10th anniversary and to celebrate we have many events going on throughout the year. These include performing at Disneyland Paris in July, two performances in London’s West End at The Shaftesbury Theatre and Her Majesty’s Theatre.
“We also want to tell local families about a wonderful scholarship competition we are holding at Stagecoach Frome next month. We are offering a full scholarship for a year and two half scholarships for a term to lucky youngsters aged between 6-15 years at our Stagecoach Frome school starting in our summer term from April.
