CHRISTMAS might be a distant memory, but the Mendip Community Credit Union is encouraging people to look ahead and start saving for the next festive season.
A recent survey carried out by the Money Advice Trust and published by the BBC, recommends saving with your local credit union so that you are prepared for Christmas 2018 – and volunteers with Mendip Community Credit Union would agree!
“We know that it is easy to spend rather more than intended at Christmas and then find you are short of cash in January,” said John Warman, chair of the Mendip Community Credit Union. “To cover the shortfall people often take out high interest payday loans, or use their credit cards which can be expensive options.
“Instead, come and talk to the friendly volunteers of Mendip Community Credit Union about saving for next year, whilst paying off last Christmas’s excesses at a much more affordable rate.”
Mendip Community Credit Union has service points from 10am to 12pm on Thursdays at the Key Centre and on Saturdays at Frome Library. They are responsible lenders, giving affordable loans, whilst encouraging saving.
