Discount food retailer Aldi has shared proposals for a new food store at the current site of The Range in Wessex Fields.
The existing building would be sub-divided to create the new Aldi store and an additional retail unit (occupier yet to be confirmed). The adjoining Halfords store is not part of Aldi’s proposals and will not change as a result.
Real Estate Director at Aldi, Elliott Saunders, said, “We are delighted to bring forward these proposals for a new Aldi store in Frome. The proposed development represents a £7 million investment bringing new jobs, greater shopping choice and a modern, sustainable store to serve local residents.
“Community engagement is extremely important to us, and we encourage people to take part in the consultation and share their views before we finalise our plans.”
Aldi is preparing a planning application to submit to Somerset Council and would like to learn residents’ views to help shape this. Plans can be viewed and feedback submitted by 31st May online at aldiconsultation.co.uk/frome.
