The Return the Plastic group is regrouping on Saturday 1st December to return their plastic packaging to Sainsbury’s at 12 noon.
The group is protesting about the amount of plastic being used once only and then entering the waste stream and the environment for thousands of years.
Helen Kay one of the organisers says, “There will be a Xmasy theme and probably some carol singing – but with different words! Do come along with your packaging, washed please, to show Sainbury’s we are fed up with over-packaged goods. Single use plastic items and excessive packaging go into overdrive at Christmas and we want people to pause and think about what they are buying and throwing away.
“We are also asking Sainsbury’s to install a large bin for waste plastic and to pay for recycling it rather than the taxpayer.”
