TWO Frome residents, with over 40 years of combined experience in play and improvised comedy, have joined forces to bring a new experience to the Frome community.
Play sessions for adults will be launched next week, on Monday 18th April at Frome Leisure Centre, organised by Jud Rawle and Rupert Windle.
Jud has led play sessions for children and adults in schools, workplaces and events around the world, and also trained in clowning and theatre. Rupert has trained and performed professionally in improvised comedy. Together, they are bringing their wealth of experience to offer regular sessions with one aim: to bring people together to have fun again.
Rupert says, “Our aim is for people to reconnect with themselves and others through play. We’re really looking forward to playing all sorts of fun games, from the playground to improvised comedy; run-around games to wordy games; we play games of wit and focus, and games of pure stupidity. We play both cooperative games and competitive games, but all in a spirit of fun for fun’s sake”.
Jud adds, “No experience is necessary, nor any skill. All you need to bring is a willingness to let go of seriousness and enjoy yourself. We value the power of movement to make you feel good, but this isn’t like school sport with winners and losers.
“You don’t have to be fit to take part, but you might get fitter, in body and mind, without even noticing because you’re having fun. You can sit out any games that are too energetic, and relax and do nothing, or make some art in the chillout corner.”
