An event sharing practical, pocket-friendly tips to live more sustainably is due to be held at Rook Lane Chapel this month.
Hosted by Green & Healthy Frome on 14th June, Green Hacks Day will give residents easy ways to reduce waste, save energy and money, and create a healthier, greener home.
During the day, there will be a series of 10-minute demos repeated every hour; no booking is needed. The demos include: compost like a pro, eco parenting hacks, slim your digital waste, and green cleaning hacks made easy.
There will also be three free workshops: Macramé Magic – the ultimate reuse hack, turning old T-shirts into beautiful hanging plant holders; How to Mend Your Clothes – simple hand-sewing skills to extend the life of your wardrobe; and Get Pickled! – fight food waste while learning the art of pickling vegetables.
Spaces in the workshops are limited and booking is essential.
The event will also host eco-stalls and giveaways. Browse local stalls packed with resources, advice and freebies, from plastic-free period products and renewable energy advice to a material swap table and the Frome Food Network stall, packed with local food knowledge – and much more.
There will also be outdoor family fun: take your children for upcycled creative play with Super Roots, and get your bike a free check-up at Dr Bike.
“Green Hacks Day is all about inspiring everyday swaps that are easy to do,” said Annabel from the Green & Healthy Frome team. “You don’t need to be an expert or have deep pockets — just come along, get inspired, and pick up some tips that could save you money and help the planet.”
Workshops are expected to fill up fast and can be booked now via www.greenhealthyfrome.org/events, “or simply turn up on 14th June and hack your way to greener living,” added Annabel.
