THE Pod Plus group, the social group for young adults with additional needs, attended the local friendly match between Frome Town and Taunton Town Football clubs.
Guests of Frome Town FC, the trip out on Friday 29th July was arranged by one of the Pod Plus groups newest members, who also volunteers at the football club.
Ryan said, “I moved to Frome recently and found Pod, it’s been an amazing place to meet new people and make friends, everyone has been so welcoming and I was really happy to be able to arrange for my friends in the group to try something new and introduce them to football.”
Leah Poole, the new community manager at Frome Town FC said, “It was an absolute pleasure to host Pod for the pre-season game against Taunton and we look forward to working with them over the coming season to offer more of their members opportunities to attend our games. It is really important to be able to work with groups, charities and schools in the local area to give something back to the community. This was the first chance to do so this season and it was amazing to have such positive feedback from Pod.”
Pod Plus members were treated like VIPs, meeting and greeting players on and off the pitch and even being asked to choose the man of the match. Nicki, the Pod Plus project leader said, “On behalf of the whole group, we want to say a big thank you to everyone at the football club, the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, it was a really lovely trip out that we hope to repeat in the future.”
