A NEW police enquiry desk is set to open at Frome Library this spring to replace the Oakfield Road office which closed over a year ago.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary has confirmed that it will likely open the new desk on Justice Lane in April.
A police spokesperson said, “We have since been working with Somerset County Council to open a police enquiry desk at the library in Frome. We expect this to open in early April – an exact date for which has not yet been confirmed.
“Once opened, the service will be delivered in the same way as it was at the previous station, which was closed in January 2015 due to low footfall.
“The new office will be a co-location rather than a shared service, meaning the public will speak to a uniformed member of police staff. The facility will also be available for the neighbourhood policing team to use as a touchdown base.”
Opening hours have not been confirmed but the library itself is currently open from 9.30am to 5pm weekdays (7pm on Fridays), and 9.30am to 4pm on Saturdays.
