Pop icon Lulu held a two-day rehearsal at Frome’s Memorial Theatre recently as she and her team made final preparations for her farewell tour, Champagne for Lulu.
The singer is celebrating 60 years in the music industry and her 75th birthday with one last tour after she stormed into the UK charts in the 1960s with Shout and became branded a national treasure.
The Memorial Theatre was filled with an articulated lorry load of lighting and sound equipment as Lulu’s team fine-tuned her show.
Chair of trustees Richard Lines said, “With the tour bus parked up in the theatre car park, there were two days of frenetic activity prior to all of the equipment being packed away and transported to Torquay for the first date on the tour.”
Martin Moss, trustee at the theatre, said, “Although the theatre would have loved to have seen Lulu perform to a full house, we were delighted to have opened the theatre to allow her team the space to perfect their show. The theatre’s technical team rose to the challenge and loved working with such a great professional crew.”
