TEACHING assistant Rona Bowles has retired after 21 years at Hayesdown First School.
The school reports, “It was an emotional day as children and staff at Hayesdown First School said goodbye to Mrs Bowles.
“Mrs Bowles has been a teaching assistant and worked in all year groups during her time at Hayesdown First School – she even remembers teaching some of the parents of current pupils. Through all the years she has helped so many children and has been a wonderfully supportive, caring and hardworking colleague – she will be greatly missed by everyone.
“Mrs Bowles told the children that she is looking forward to new adventures, including baking bread, reading and booking a holiday as soon as she can!
“She also enjoys going on walks in the local area and asked that the children say hello if they see her. All the classes presented a special card to Mrs Bowles to mark her final day and she received gifts including a Japanese maple tree for her garden.”
Mrs Battersby, headteacher, said. “We all wish Mrs Bowles well in her retirement and would like to thank her for her hard work and dedication over the years. We will all miss her and hope that she remains a friend of the school.”
