KERRANG! magazine has shone a spotlight on Frome’s ‘punk rock mayor’.
The British rock, punk and heavy metal music magazine – which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year – spent the day with Frome’s mayor, cllr Andy Wrintmore, to find out how he became the ‘punk rock mayor’, and his ambitions to change the town he grew up.
The ‘punk rock mayor’ also took Kerrang! on a tour the town, stopping off at places like Catherine Hill, and record shop, Raves From The Grave; and talks to them about the legacy of Frome’s “small-scale political revolution” in 2015, which saw ‘Independents for Frome’ candidates winning all 16 seats available on the town council.
“I’ve been blessed in my life to have a few full circle moments, this is certainly one of them,” cllr Wrintmore told Frome Times.
“As a teenager Kerrang! magazine posters adorned my walls and the contents of their pages filled my head with rock ‘n’ roll myths and legends.
“Just a few months ago my inclusion would have been as drummer of SickOnes, ironically the band is currently taking a hiatus and I’ll be concentrating on my mayoral duties and my podcast ‘The Giant Pod’, yet I still made it into Kerrang!…funny how life turns out.
“Massive thank you to Jak Hutchcraft for such a flattering and charming piece”
