PUPILS at Oakfield Academy in Frome recently learnt how to rebuild a bike as part of a sustainability project.
In collaboration with Critchill School and Julian House, a charity promoting independence and social inclusion, pupils took part in the ‘Build a Bike’ project.
The school’s Dawn Warren said, “The pupils had the opportunity to work on a bike, strip it back and rebuild it.
“They learnt many skills along the way which will help them look after their bikes in the future. The children also learnt many lessons in listening, perseverance, supporting each other and working in a new environment with new adults.
“At the end of the project the pupils were able to take their new bikes home as a reward for all their hard work!”
