FOUR Frome young people have been crowned the winners of this year’s Christmas card competition by local charity We Hear You (WHY).
The counselling charity received hundreds of entries from people aged nine to 16 and the effort put in by so many has meant that there will be two packs of children’s cards available as WHY’s official Christmas cards this year.
Fundraising officer Helen Sprawson-White said, “It is the first time we have held a children’s competition like this, and the standard of work put in to the entries was really impressive.
“We simply couldn’t narrow them down to just one winner in each category so we chose a runner up too! We are delighted with the designs and hope that everyone else will be as well.”
Taking the prizes for the 9-13 category were Maisie Dewings, aged 11 and Isaac Cornish, aged 9 who both attend Oakfield Academy in Frome. Winner and runner-up of the 13-16 category were Elliott Clark and Alex Waldeck, both aged 13, from Frome College.
Cards will be available in packs of ten priced at £3.50 from The Good Gallery on Stony Street, Cards for Good Causes at St John’s Church, at various events over the festive period and from the WHY office in Frome town centre, in person or online from November.
