Watson Gym Equipment Ltd, based in Commerce Park, has been credited with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, 2021 for its outstanding performance in International Trade.
This award recognises business excellence across the UK, demonstrating outstanding success in the fields of Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity, both locally and nationally.
Watson Gym Equipment design, manufacture and distribute worldwide, its strength equipment used in the gym industry.
Since 1999, managing director Simon Watson has created a brand which has grown from a garage project into a multi-million turnover business, supplying the top gyms and individuals in the world.
Simon said, “We are immensely proud of this prestigious award. To see the growth of the company since starting in 1999 is a credit to the hard work and vision of the individuals who work here. However, I still feel we are just cracking the surface of our global potential.
“We have just built a new factory in Commerce Park next to our existing unit which doubles our footprint and demonstrates the expansion plans. With growth, comes employment potential, and we are lucky to have such a great pool of talent locally, but we are always looking to improve.
“We have always supported local industry, always looking at the surrounding community in regards to employment and suppliers. With 95% of raw materials being sourced in the UK, the company is keen to ensure the supply chain is non-reliant on materials from outside the UK, to not only expedite the company’s own business needs, but in support of UK trade and industry.”
For employment opportunities, keep an eye on the local papers and online.
